Day 1- So It Begins…

Day 1- So It Begins…

The first of day of our trip. A tired but excited beginning

And so it begins….

Distance: 9.5km

Duration: 2 hours

Camp: Dumgoyach Bridge

Weather: Warm, Dry, Overcast

We started late today due to delays in travelling into Glasgow and a last minute search for a couple items.

We decided to have a ‘last meal’ before heading out and walk just far enough to set up a tent to start proper tomorrow.

I’m glad we chose to do this as we did find the walking easy enough- even though neither of us have been very active in the lead up- but were exhausted from the couple days prior to starting.

Once we arrived at camp we both passed out moments after setting up the tent only to come round and sort the rest an hour later.

Excitement is high so far and we are both keen to get stuck into the coming days but it will be interested to see how this happens with such a tired beginning to the trip.

Hopefully we manage to find a way to catch up on rest while making meaningful progress at the same time. Otherwise this will be a long and hard trip.

I did enjoy today though, it has been great catching up with a friend and seeing familiar spots from previous times I’ve walked this area. Was great to come around a hill to see a view of the outdoors we are slowly making our way towards.

Looking forward for tomorrow but a little worried how tired we will be.
